The Original Neck Buckle: The innovation that changed dog harnesses forever

In 2022, we noticed a common frustration among dog owners: many dogs hated harnesses simply because they didn’t want to squeeze their heads through them. Others, especially those with broad heads and slender necks, suffered from poor fit—either too loose around the neck or too tight to slip on comfortably.
We knew there had to be a better way. So we set out to rethink the traditional dog harness.
Our breakthrough came with the introduction of the first-ever Y-shaped harness with a neck buckle. Initially, we incorporated it into our smaller harnesses to help small dog owners who struggled the most. But the demand didn’t stop there. Big dog owners wanted it too. So we listened—and the Canyon Light Series and Canyon Pro Series became the first Y-harnesses to feature a neck buckle across all sizes.
Since then, others have followed our lead. But while some brands are just now realizing the benefits of this design, our customers know the truth: Säker was the pioneer.
